Nowadays withered in the sun and turned in bamboo baskets, these bold whole leaves develop a mild, sweetbread-like flavor. The national drink of North Africa has a very long tradition. also known as the tonic of the Pharaohs it has high contents of ethereal oils which characterize the distinctive flavor. We recommend brewing 1-2 level teaspoons each of leaves and sugar per cup or 6 fl. oz. and letting it steep for 10 minutes. Nana mint is also delicious as an ice tea variation in summer, served chilled with a dash of lemon.
